The pic is me and my son, a couple of years ago, getting after some brew. Brewing since 2004, have done some all grain, but I prefer the ease of extract. For those of you that don't keg, you should. I do not know why I took so long to move up. Serving straight from your fermenter is awesome easy. Making big batches, easy because you just daisy chain them together, pitch yeast in the first, and watch the yeast carry through the blowoff hose down the string.

This beer was way too hoppy, no sense of balance. More malt or less hops are due next time, probably just more malt...........

Science project. Note the efficiency, that is because I added too much cold water to get my temperature down quick. Gravity read 1.062. No more hallertauer left in stock at the local shop =(, so trying Crystal out, same AA level, smelled good enough, almost like it's got some extra spice (flavor) to it. I did not save any for flavor or aroma though. Also my first attempt at recultured yeast. I split this batch out and did the other half with 3068 weihenstephan, if the reculture does not work, then I will just push one keg into the other and roll with it.

Mash effeiciency was non existent on this one. I had to add the 3 lbs of DME just to get my gravity up to match beer calculus.
