Vote for Future Features on Hopville!

Voting is open to Hopville members who have donated to the site within the last year. If you'd like to actively participate in Hopville's future in this way, become a member now. Here are the results in order of popularity:

Stars-5 Calculator Toolbox
Hopville would provide a suite of utility calculators in addition to Beer Calculus. These wouldn't require a Hopville recipe, although they might load data from a specific recipe for convenience. Free-form calculations might include strike temperature, decoction volumes, sparge water volume, metric conversions, hydrometer calibrations, and so on.
Stars-4 Sparge/Mash Water Calculator
The "process" section of each all-grain Hopville/B.C. recipe would include detailed information about sparging, and calculate the mashing/sparging volumes necessary to reach specific boiling and fermenting volumes.
Stars-3 Ingredients Overhaul
The ingredients database has grown substantially with user additions (thanks!), but with the increase in volume has come a decrease in order. An ingredients overhaul might include organizing ingredients by brand name, location of origin, keywords. The overhaul would remove redundant ingredients and facilitate new UI elements to make finding/adding ingredients much easier.
Stars-3 Mobile Application for iPhone and/or Android
The mobile app could have lots of features: load and view a recipe on brew day, create a recipe, search recipes, set reminder alarms on brew day (for mashing, boiling, etc). A toolbox of handy calculators might also be included. Ideally I'd partner with another developer and/or designer on this project to maximize its awesomeness.
Stars-2 Magic Conversions for Recipes
This would allow a recipe to be transformed automatically by Beer Calculus. Common use cases would be to scale a recipe's overall volume up or down, or to convert an extract recipe to all grain and vice versa.
Stars-1 Advanced Search
More sorting, filtering, and matching features would be added to search functionality for recipes. This would allow brewers to find and filter recipes using many different criteria: BJCP style, brewing method (all grain, extract, etc), specific ranges of OG, FG, color, tasting score, brew date, etc. It might also include better "fuzzy" matching of keywords, matching recipes to similar recipes, and so on.
Stars-1 Recipe Collections
Whatever they might be called - folders, groups, collections - this would allow brewers to put a bunch of their recipes in a batch under a shared heading. The standard use case would be to store many variations on the same recipe, but brewers could organize recipes however they want. For instance they might have a collection of holiday ales or a folder of all the recipes they've entered into competitions.
Stars-1 Q&A / Brewer Forums
This would allow anyone to ask brewing questions or questions about the site and get their question answered by experienced brewers on Hopville.
Stars-1 Brewing Clubs and User Groups
Brew clubs and friend groups could create and administer their own groups on Hopville, making it easier to track each other's brewing activity and stay connected via the site.
Stars-1 Import Recipes
You can already export your recipes as BeerXML from Hopville, but this feature would allow you to import recipes from other brewing software programs as well, as long as they support the BeerXML standard. (Given enough requests, other import formats may be supported as well.)
